Petty Booka, the world-famous ukulele duo of lovely Japanese women, plays four concerts in the Bay Area December 2-6 in San Francisco, Berkeley, Santa Cruz and San Jose (see listed dates below), including their spotlight set at the Fillmore on Saturday December 4 for Dan Hicks' annual Christmas bash, Holidaze In Hicksville.

Imagine two lovely Japanese ladies wearing grass skirts or post-geisha robes, singing in perfect harmony and strumming ukes. Petty Booka will have some great holiday tunes to offer but also check out their zany covers of Patsy Cline, Cyndi Lauper, and other icons.

Petty Booka is the popular Tokyo ukulele female duo that has rocked the South By Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas three years running. After a decade of popularity in Japan, the girls have both their first-ever USA release, “Let’s Talk Dirty In Hawaiian” (Weed Records), and also a fine Christmas release “Christmas Everywhere” (Weed Records) in stores everywhere. Their holiday release is quickly getting a buzz from airplay on Dr. Demento, the Disney Radio Network and many indie and college stations.

Fans all over the world adore these ladies! Petty and Booka play ukuleles and sing like angels in grass skirts and hula threads. They put a Polynesian or Country-Western twist on classic rock, country, bluegrass, exotica, punk, 1980s pop, and whatever else might strike their fancy. They are a perfect show for the whole family and are wonderfully cute in television and radio interviews.

This is a wonderful opportunity to see these rare Japanese performers bring their blend of pop kitsch, hapa haole Hawaiian music, kabuki theater and bluegrass to the Bay Area.
